Cars for Kids is an IRS-approved, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) charity and nonprofit organization (Tax ID #46-2077931). Our car donation program operates in all 50 states. Child support grants also help provide education and provide things like food, housing, clothing, childcare and other basic needs for at-risk youth while they work for their future.
Our auctions are held every Saturday in Dallas. Our preview day is Friday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm and our auction starts at 9:00am on Saturday.

When I started high school the word “school” was not in my vocabulary. I skipped class and did everything but books. After a while I started to see myself stuck in this pattern. The same people I went to high school with walked on the square and I stayed behind. I had to think long and hard about what to do with my life. That’s when I met Austin Kahn! Academy, where a second chance is given. Most people in my shoes would have given up on them but here I stood getting my high school diploma at the age of 22. None of my siblings finished high school. I am grateful and very happy to be the first. Look, I know now, high school is where adulthood begins. Austin is there! This is where I learned new things, met great people and started my new life. Now, I plan to go to college and hope to find a career in music and business management. “

My name is Dwayne and I was attending Dallas Cannes! The two-year college is currently registered as a high school. Education is important to me. When I was kicked out of home school, I didn’t want to stop. I started researching other schools. While researching which school to attend, I checked out Dallas Can! The academy and I read some of the success stories presented by other students, I said to myself “I want to be at this school”.
Dallas is there! There seems to be a strong support system to help with my educational needs. Education is important to me and many others, for most of us it is our first achievement when we receive our matriculation certificate. This is just one step that will help us get closer to achieving our goals.
My mother always told me that “a real man has balance”. A lot of boys my age are on the street doing unimaginable things, in my opinion we should all be in school so we don’t become like them and become famous. We don’t have to go to school to get a high school diploma until we stop. I think you should at least give the university a chance, enter and see what it’s like.
At home in my room, I have a list of goals hanging on my door and every day I get up and read it to see what steps I need to take to get closer to my goals. But first I have to finish high school. I think it is important for all students to have a list of goals. Whatever your goals are, just don’t give up on them. After you graduate from college, make sure your goal is still there to get internships and job interviews.

Byron Del Final’s first year of high school was pretty normal. He participated in football and did well in classes. He transferred to a new school his sophomore year and had similar success. However, his family moved back in his sophomore year and he entered his third high school in two years.
Things changed for Byron after the second move. He started skipping school, his grades suffered, he was in the same high school his junior year but he finished the year without passing the first grade, he started the fourth year at the same school as a middle schooler instead of a graduate and he saw that he didn’t hope not. to complete his studies with his class or to join the army which is his dream.
After visiting the sailors, he decided to go to Guatemala and get his high school diploma there. He excelled and graduated in October 2009. He returned ready to complete his military career but was shocked when the sailors told him they couldn’t accept his high school diploma in Guatemala because he joined the Marine Corps.

Determined to achieve his goal, Byron visited Tony Swafford, president of the Fort Worth Can! River Oaks Academy University, for completing the courses required to meet the credit requirements and passing the TAKS tests to qualify for a Texas high school diploma. Swofford outlined the five credits he needed to meet his graduation requirements, set his daily schedule, and scheduled the training he needed to prepare him for the TAKS test.
In less than a year of school with Fort Worth Can! Byron earned a 1.5 and passed all three TAKS tests he needs to graduate. He now needs to complete the 3.5 required to graduate in the last quarter of the year. Typically, students can earn 2.0 credits during one quarter. Byron worked with Stanley Carr, a River Oaks credit recovery lab instructor, and was able to complete 3.5 credits. He walked across the stage to receive his diploma on June 4, 2010 in front of his proud family and Fort Worth Can! Teachers.
Byron’s dream came true and he joined the US Navy shortly after graduation and has since completed the first thirteen weeks of his training. Byron recently returned to the River Oaks campus to thank the faculty and staff for their support. For him to reach his goal of reminding students that everything.
