Eligible cards are genuine US-issued consumer cards issued by American Express National Bank that have not been cancelled. Prepaid cards, American Express corporate cards, American Express small business cards, American Express branded cards or account numbers issued by other financial institutions, and American Express cards issued outside the United States are not eligible cards. To use Send & Split, you must first have an email address on file, register for Send & Split® in your American Express online account (“Online Account”), and open an Amex Send® Accumulated Balance account in the Amex app (“Send account”). Send & Split Allows you to: (i) send a person-to-person payment from your account to a Venmo and PayPal user (“Send”) and (ii) split a card purchase (“Split”) and receive funds into your account card as a statement credit to either your linked Venmo or PayPal account. You can use Send & Split® with an additional consumer card issued in the US by American Express National Bank and is non-cancellable if you have an eligible card on the same online account and an online account registered with Send & Split You must have or create a Venmo or PayPal account and Send & Split Your online account must be linked to your PayPal or Venmo account to use it You must add funds from your eligible card(s) to your sending account to send Venmo or PayPal to the recipient. The money you add will be reflected in your sending account balance. Charges on your card for top-up transactions do not earn rewards and are subject to the card purchase APR. Once a send from your sending account is available in the recipient’s Venmo or PayPal account, you will not be able to cancel the transaction. There is no shipping charge to US recipients. PayPal charges a shipping fee to recipients outside the US. With Split, you can split pending purchases or posted purchases made with your eligible card in your Amex app. After selecting the purchase you want to split, select the contacts you want to request split. You can choose to receive your refund as a statement credit to your card account (split credit) or to your linked Venmo or PayPal account. Split credits will be applied to your card account when we receive confirmation that the split request is complete, but it may take 24-36 hours for it to be credited to your card account. Even if Split reimburses you, you are still responsible for paying the full purchase amount charged to your card. You earn rewards for purchases you share in the same way you earn rewards for other purchases. Other qualifications and restrictions apply.

Your ability to make plans is based on various factors such as your creditworthiness and credit limit or repayment term. The payment time limit applies to your total payment, cash advance and plan balances. You may not be able to create a plan if you exceed the payment term limit or if your plan balance exceeds 95% of your total new account balance on your last billing statement. If your Pay Over Time feature has been suspended or your account has been cancelled, you will not be able to create plans. The number and length of plan term options offered to you, the number of active plans you may have at one time, and your ability to include multiple eligible purchases in a single plan are at our discretion and based on various factors such as your creditworthiness, purchase amount (with ) and your account history. Once the plan is paid in full, it will be removed from your account in the next billing period.
The plan is available on card accounts issued by the US banking subsidiary of American Express, except for accounts that do not have a credit limit or the option to pay over time. Only the original card member or authorized account manager on the account can create a plan. Prepaid cards and products, American Express corporate cards, American Express small business cards and American Express branded cards or account numbers issued by other financial institutions are not acceptable.
Purchases (including any associated foreign transaction fees) and annual membership fees are eligible. For some accounts, fees must equal or exceed a certain dollar amount to qualify.
