New World Reading Scholarship – New Worlds Reading is a state program created by the Florida Legislature to promote early childhood reading and the love of reading. Each month, New Worlds Reading offers free books in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole to age-appropriate VPK Florida students, as well as general K-5 students and non-reading literature students. Once registered, students receive books and families can access reading guides to support the development of reading skills and a love of reading.
Families of children enrolled in New Worlds Reading have access to reading resources, activities and guides to encourage shared reading experiences and strengthen language communication. This program is completely free for families, and once enrolled, students will remain in the program until they enter sixth grade.

New World Reading Scholarship
When children can read books that reflect their interests and when they can see themselves in the story, their interest in reading will grow. By combining the fun and excitement of sharing a book at home with reading resources, New Worlds Reading aims to help children develop an interest in reading and literacy skills that should have a positive impact on their future. The UF Center has partnered with Scholastic, the world’s largest book publisher and distributor, to purchase and distribute the books.
