Students not only gain knowledge of the most important principles and techniques of cyber security (as well as techniques commonly used by hackers), but also learn how to apply this knowledge in the real world. The Master’s program consists of four semesters of 30 credit points each. The curriculum distinguishes between basic and specialized studies, which are complemented by general studies, industrial training and master’s theses. Foundation Study (Cyber Security Fundamentals) is a compulsory module and consists of 22 credit points. Specific studies are divided into two compulsory elective modules (Cybersecurity Methods and Informatics) and a research project of 54 credit points. As part of the mandatory elective modules, students must choose at least 28 credit points from Cyber Security Methods and 12 credit points from Computer Science.
Internships allow students to apply the subject knowledge and methods acquired through their courses in an industrial setting. It serves to link practical experience with research and teaching.
With the exception of some degree programs, BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg is tuition-free. However, the university charges a semester fee of approximately 135 EUR per semester. This includes costs for the student service organization (Studentenwerk) and the Student Council (StuRa).

Admission requirements include a first degree (at least a bachelor’s degree) or equivalent in computer science or a closely related program with an emphasis on computer science (eg cyber security, applied mathematics, artificial intelligence, data science, electrical engineering). The content of computer science and theoretical, applied and technical mathematics courses should be comparable to the bachelor’s program in computer science offered at BTU.
Applicants with higher education entry requirements from Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom. Northern Ireland or the United States do not need to submit separate proof of English proficiency. Applicants with an English-language secondary education in Germany or one of the above-mentioned countries are exempt from submitting an official English language certificate.

This certificate must confirm that you have reached the required level of English (minimum B2/CEFR).
