The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) immediately launched emergency operations to provide the families with urgently needed food aid. Despite the enormous challenges, WFP has already provided food and cash to more than 856,000 people in the region since the start of the current conflict.
To Fight Against Hunger, World Food Programme Launches Feed Our Future
WFP calls for the immediate establishment of humanitarian channels to facilitate the entry of aid and humanitarian assistance into the Gaza Strip. We must allow ourselves to reach out to people whose needs are increasing by the hour. “WFP has tons of food from planes and trucks around the area, ready for the green light to enter Gaza from wherever possible,” it said. Country Director Samar Abdeljaber. “We need to get into Gaza, and we need to be able to reach people wherever they are.”
The United Nations Food Program has worked in Gaza for decades. Our support is needed to prevent further deterioration of this dire humanitarian crisis.
In Gaza, the UN Food Program is still distributing food to families in need every day. However, safe access is becoming more and more difficult.

We provide food aid as soon as possible to war-affected women, children and families. Please help send food today. GLOBAL WARMING – “Climate change is accelerating climate-related disasters, creating greater risks of hunger and disruption of food systems. The World Food Program works with governments, international partners, researchers and local communities. Analyze and understand the impacts of climate change, programs, innovations , through policy and technical assistance we help those most vulnerable to climate change resilience and food security.”
The World Food Program (WFP) is the food aid arm of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
Compared to the global food crisis of climate change, water crisis, oil dependence and land use, food aid is provided to about 91.4 million people, a drop in the ocean of more than a billion people. Our oceans are a danger and a safety net.
From its headquarters in Rome and offices in more than 80 countries around the world, WFP works to help people who cannot produce or obtain enough food for themselves and their families. It is a member of the United Nations Development Group and part of its Executive Committee.

“Helping 91.4 million people in 83 countries every year, the World Food Program (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization to save and transform lives, providing food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilient livelihoods. working
As the international community commits to ending hunger, achieving food security and good nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide still does not have enough to eat. Food and nutrition assistance is at the heart of the fight to end the cycle of hunger and poverty.
On any given day, WFP has 5,000 trucks, 20 ships and 92 aircraft flying, delivering food and other aid to those in need. Each year, we distribute more than 15 billion shares at an estimated average cost of $0.31 per share. These figures underpin WFP’s unrivaled reputation as an emergency responder, working quickly and at scale in the most difficult environments.
WFP’s efforts focus on emergency assistance, relief and rehabilitation, development assistance and special operations. Two-thirds of our work is in conflict-affected countries, where people are three times more malnourished than people living in conflict-free countries.
Governance And Leadership
In emergencies, WFP is often the first to provide food aid to victims of war, civil conflict, drought, floods, earthquakes, cyclones, crop failures and natural disasters. As the emergency subsides, WFP helps communities rebuild the lives and livelihoods that have been destroyed. We also work to strengthen the resilience of individuals and communities affected by protracted conflicts by applying a development lens to our humanitarian response.
WFP’s development projects focus on nutrition, particularly for mothers and children, addressing malnutrition from an early stage, through programs targeting the first 1,000 days from conception and then through school meals.
WFP is the largest humanitarian organization running school feeding programs worldwide and has been doing so for over 50 years. Each year, WFP provides school meals to 18.3 million children in 65 countries, often in hard-to-reach areas.
WFP buys 3 million tons of food every year. At least three-quarters of that comes from developing countries. By buying food as close as possible to where it is needed, we can save time and money on travel costs and help grow the local economy. Increasingly, WFP meets people’s food needs through cash transfers that allow the people we serve to choose their own food and buy it locally.
Private Sector Partnerships
WFP provides services to the entire humanitarian community, including passenger air transport through the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service, which flies to more than 280 destinations worldwide.
Funded entirely by voluntary contributions, WFP raised US$6 billion in 2017. WFP has more than 15,000 staff worldwide, more than 90 percent of whom live in the countries where the organization provides assistance.
WFP is governed by a 36-member Executive Board, which works closely with its two Rome-based sister organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. WFP works with more than 1,000 national and international NGOs to provide food aid and fight hunger.
WFP is governed by an Executive Board with representatives from 36 member countries. David Beasley is the current Director-General, appointed jointly by the UN Secretary-General and the Director-General of FAO for a five-year term. He heads the WFP Secretariat. The European Union is a permanent observer of WFP and, as a major donor, participates in the work of its Executive Board.
His vision is “a world where every man, woman and child always has access to the food they need for an active and healthy life.”
WFP operations are funded by voluntary contributions from world governments, organizations and private donors. The organisation’s administrative costs are just seven per cent – one of the lowest and most efficient costs among charities. From 2008-2012, voluntary private donors contributed nearly $500 million. In 2016, WFP received $5,933,529,247 from donors. The United States is the WFP’s largest donor, with US $ 1 2 billion, followed by the European Commission (US $ 894 million) and Germany (US $ 884 million). $).
WFP seeks to eradicate hunger and malnutrition, with the ultimate goal of eliminating the need for food itself.
“WFP works closely with national governments, UN partners and non-governmental organizations to inform policies and programs adopted to combat hunger in a variety of settings. Economic, geographic and household vulnerability data are analyzed to provide a basis for food security. To give a snapshot of the situation, the structure of WFP operations is laid out.

WFP’s food security analysts carry out a range of face-to-face assessments, including ‘baseline’ assessments (also known as Comprehensive Food Security and Risk Assessments, or CFSVA) and Emergency Food Security Assessments (EFSA) in fast and slow emergencies. Such as cyclones, floods, droughts and conflict situations. EFSA reports provide a snapshot of the food safety situation and are regularly updated.
As food security assessments take time, they are complemented by continuous monitoring to monitor changes in the food security status of the population, allowing for the design of fine-tuning programs. This includes collecting information on food consumption, household income, coping strategies and prices to identify how seasonality affects food security.
WFP turns to Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping, or mVAM, when high-frequency data is needed to collect food security data from very remote or vulnerable areas for in-person assessment or to monitor the situation. This approach uses mobile technology such as SMS, interactive voice response (IVR) or live calling to reach vulnerable populations and monitor food safety trends in real time. mVAM also uses an automatic two-way communication system that gives people free access to new information.
WFP also conducts joint food security assessments with partners such as governments, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), UNICEF and international and national NGOs.
