After submitting a car donation through the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program, you will receive a confirmation email with access to the Donor Console. Within the donor console, you’ll be able to track the progress of your car donation, upload documents, and get tax and title information. After you sell the car, you will receive a tax payment confirmation by e-mail.

The following year was one of the most difficult years of my life. We were poorer than poor, living in Mason Manor and trying to make ends meet while mom worked two jobs. She was then fired because her employer believed she should enjoy her last days with her children. No one could say the words “yo mom” without clenching their fists in their teeth. This led to us moving around a lot. It seemed like every school I went to there was always one person who always said that and pissed me off.
In 8th grade, Mom thought it would be a good idea to move us to Pflugerville. It was a tough year, but I barely made it. That summer, Mom spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital for medical procedures. It was now the first day of school at Pflugerville High School. I passed, went to soccer practice and ended up fighting this guy. Fortunately, I wasn’t suspended. The next day at school, his boyfriend came up to me and said: “Let me see that you make me so…!” I didn’t say anything. I just started throwing a bunch of punches until he hit the floor. Then the whole football team jumped me in the main hall. I hurt three boys, so they kicked me out and the school district. The school called my mother out of bed to pick me up. This only scared her more.
I had to learn to control myself a little more. We ended up moving into some apartments. I transferred to another high school. The first year and a half went well, except that I was still slowly losing my mother. It was becoming clearer that she wasn’t going to be there as much as I thought. But I went to school and worked, which is the most important thing. Soon, in the second semester of my sophomore year, I was kicked out of high school for allegedly being a gang member.
That brought me to Austin Can! for a while. Attending the Prime Minister’s meeting helped me then. I took care of my mother in the morning, went to school from 12 to 4 and went straight home to take care of her some more. It gave us a lot of time to make memories. I finished the school year in Austin Can! no problem. The next school year I decided to go back to high school, which was the worst idea of my life. One day I had no one to call because I had just checked my mother into Seton Hospital for chemotherapy. That was the day I was kicked out of AISD for gang affiliation and lack of identification.
